Cairo’s story is one of second chances and finding the perfect match. Originally abandoned outside a rural shelter after hours, Cairo and another dog were thankfully found by staff before tragedy struck. But the shelter was full, and their futures were uncertain.
A kind-hearted volunteer stepped in, adopting both dogs to save them from being euthanized for space. Months later, she found out about RARE and reached out for help. Thanks to incredible fosters stepping up, we were able to bring both boys into our care. Amigo, who was heartworm positive, received treatment and was adopted soon after. But Cairo waited patiently in his loving foster home from May until just this month.
Now renamed Hondo, he has finally found his forever home with an amazing couple. It’s clear why his wait was so long—this match was meant to be!
