Shelby’s Post-Surgery Update

Shelby
Shelby

Shelby underwent her first Medial Patellar Luxation (MPL) surgery last Wednesday, February 12th, and she’s doing fantastic so far! She had her first recheck and bandage change yesterday, and everything is healing as expected. To ensure proper recovery, she remains on very limited activity and crate rest. If all continues to go well, her second MPL surgery—for her other knee—will likely take place in the next 6 to 8 weeks.

It’s incredibly rare for such a young dog to have such a severe case of bilateral luxation, and even more so for both knees to luxate medially (toward the inside) rather than laterally.

This life-changing surgery wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the 1510 Foundation. According to multiple veterinary opinions, Shelby would have likely lost the use of her back legs within the next few years without these procedures.

Words cannot express how grateful we, along with her new parents, are for the 1510 Foundation and its supporters for giving Shelby the chance to live a happy, pain-free life.

We will continue to keep everyone updated on her progress—thank you all for your love and support! ❤️
